December 12, 2011

It is beginning to look a bit like Christmas! We're singing, school schedules are being interrupted, and kids are feeling anxious for the holidays. Please encourage your kids to keep their noses to the grind stone a bit longer!

Happy Thanksgiving!
We have only 2 days of school this week. There will be no spelling test given. Included in our goals this week will be finishing up the current math unit, making good progress on our Social Studies unit, and beginning  our songs for the Christmas Program.
The Colonial Day Activity will be held on December 1st. We are trying to enlist any and all help that we can find for this day. Please let me know if you are available on the morning of Thursday, December 1. Thanks!

End of Term

The end of the first trimester is coming up on November 17. We will have to have all assignments in by the 10th so that report cards can be done. I will be sending home missing assignment pages with the students this week so they can get them completed.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are on the 17th and 18th. I am looking forward to seeing you all.

I am concerned about the reading accomplishments in our class. Students should have at least 15 AR points by now. Nearly 3/4 of our class are below this goal. Please encourage your child to read each night. The more they read, the better and faster they will become.
Thank you for your help.

Please remember to sign planners and encourage your student to do his/her reading. Thanks!
